Malayan Airways Limited became Malaysian Airways Limited as the Federation of Malaysia was formed.

1966

Malaysian Airways Limited became Malaysia-Singapore Airlines (MSA). 

1968

For the first time, the annual revenue hit S$100 million.

1969

5 Boeing 737-100s joined the fleet.

The 1970s

(MSA) was the first airline to offer free headsets. Also, meals and drinks were introduced in Economy Class.

1971

The take-off of the first transcontinental trip between Singapore and London.

1972

(MSA) was separated into 2 airlines, Malaysian Airline System and Singapore Airlines.

1989

The subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, Tradewinds, was announced as Singapore’s 2nd airline and named SilkAir. Then, it expanded its network to include over 30 destinations. 

Singapore Airlines became the first airline to send a Boeing 747-400 commercial flight from Singapore across the Pacific.

2009

The first of 19 new Airbus A330-300 was delivered. 

One million passengers flew on Singapore Airlines.

2015

Singapore Airlines operates its first-ever Charity Flight on the Airbus A380 (largest commercial aircraft). 

Singapore Airlines participated in the aerial flypast of Singapore's National Day Parade (NDP) for the first time with Airbus A380 in unique SG50 liver.

Singapore Airlines Check-in Information

Online check-in is available on SingaporeAir mobile app and website between  48 hours and 1.5 hours before flight departure.

For some routes, online check-in isn’t available or the boarding pass can’t be generated online. In this case, passengers must head to the airport's check-in counter to verify their documents and issue the boarding pass. 

Passengers departing from Singapore Changi Airport can check in at the counters between 48 hours to 40 minutes before flight departure. However, it’s best to arrive 3 hours before departure to finish all the formalities and check in the baggage on time.

Auto Check-in

Automatic check-in ensures that passengers will check in as early as 48 hours before departure time. You can turn it through the Manage Booking page. In the meantime, you’ll receive the check-in confirmation via email. 

Note that auto check-in is not available for:

  • Passengers without a confirmed booking, or have waitlisted flights
  • Passengers who have booked an extra seat
