Air New Zealand Check-in and Baggage allowance

Air New Zealand Check-in

The option of online check-in is available for Air New Zealand flights. The service is only available for passengers who have confirmed booking and valid e-tickets on flights operated by Air New Zealand. Air New Zealand online check-in service starts from 24 hours up to 90 minutes (on international flights) and 30 minutes (on domestic flights) before the flight departure. The service lets you select your seats, manage your checked baggage and receive your boarding pass before you get to the airport. If you are not available to check-in online, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport no later than 60 minutes (for domestic flights) and two hours (for international flights) before the departure time.

Air New Zealand Baggage allowance

  • Economy class allowance for carry-on is one bag with a maximum weight limit of 7 kg.

  • Business class and Star Alliance Gold members (except flights to/from the US) allowance for carry-on is up to two bags with a maximum weight limit of 7 kg in total.

  • Infants up to two years allowance (To/From the Americas) for check-in is one bag with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg.

  • Infants up to two years don’t come with a check-in baggage allowance but do include one piece of carry-on baggage.

  • Children from 2-10 years, check-in bag is the same as the adult.

  • Excess baggage must be booked in advance when you purchase your ticket.

For flights within New Zealand,

  • Smart Saver allowance for check-in is one bag with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg.
  • Flexi Fare allowance for check-in is up to two bags with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg each.

  • Business class allowance for check-in is up to three bags with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg each.

For flights to Australia, the Pacific Islands and Bali,

  • Economy class allowance for check-in is one bag with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg.

  • Premium Economy class allowance for check-in is up to two bags with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg each.

  • Business class allowance for check-in is up to three bags with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg each.

  • Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) in Economy class allowance for check-in is up to two bags with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg.

  • Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) in Business class allowance for check-in is up to three bags with a maximum weight limit of 23 kg.

For other international flights,
